Why is an Audi radio code necessary?
As a security measure Audi requires radio codes to get your radio out of safe mode. Chances are you did not have to enter the Audi radio rode when you purchased the vehicle and therefore have never had to deal with Audi radio codes before.
If your Audi radio is currently in “Safe Mode” there are a few steps you will need to take:
If you are one of the lucky people who happen to have a vehicle manual with the Audi radio code on hand, you can simply follow the instructions specific to your radio and the hills will be alive with the sound of music.
Unfortunately this code is not often on hand, so there are a few ways you can go about getting your radio code.

*Be careful entering the code! On most radios, when you incorrectly try to enter the code two times the radio will go into a one hour lock-up and you will have to wait to try again!
How do I enter the Audi radio code into my specific radio?
Audi Symphony Radio
- Radio is on and appears in “SAFE” mode
- Simultaneously press the P.SCAN and RBDS buttons, holding them down, until “1000” lights up. Release the buttons. (If you continue to hold the button down or press the buttons again this will make the radio think your radio code is 1000, so don’t do that)
- Use the station buttons 1 through 4 to input the radio code. Press button one repeatedly until you arrive to the correct number (once would be one, twice would be two and so on.)
- Once you have entered the correct code in the display press the P.SCAN and RBDS simultaneously again, holding down until SAFE is displayed.
- The radio should now be working, but we can’t guarantee the commercials will be any better.
Audi Concert Radio
- Radio is on and appears in “SAFE” mode
- Simultaneously press the FM 2 and RDS buttons, holding them down, until “1000” lights up. Release the buttons. (If you continue to hold the button down or press the buttons again this will make the radio think your radio code is 1000, so don’t do that)
- Use the station buttons 1 through 4 to input the radio code. Press button one repeatedly until you arrive to the correct number (once would be one, twice would be two and so on.)
- Once you have entered the correct code in the display press the FM 2 and RDS simultaneously again, holding down until SAFE is displayed.
- The radio should now be working but we can’t guarantee the commercials will be any better.
Audi Delta CC Radio
- Radio is on and appears in “SAFE” mode
- Simultaneously press FM (1/2) and DX buttons, holding them down, until “1000” lights up. Release the buttons. (If you continue to hold the button down or press the buttons again this will make the radio think your radio code is 1000, so don’t do that)
- Use the station buttons 1 through 4 to input the radio code. Press button one repeatedly until you arrive to the correct number (once would be one, twice would be two and so on.)
- Once you have entered the correct code in the display press the FM 2 and RDS simultaneously again, holding down until SAFE is displayed.
- The radio should now be working but we can’t guarantee the commercials will be any better.
Audi Bose Radio
- Radio is on and appears in “SAFE” mode
- Simultaneously press FM 1 and AM buttons, holding them down, until “1000” lights up. Release the buttons. (If you continue to hold the button down or press the buttons again this will make the radio think your radio code is 1000, so don?t do that)
- Use the station buttons 1 through 4 to input the radio code. Press button one repeatedly until you arrive to the correct number (once would be one, twice would be two and so on.) The 1st button will only be a 1 or left blank, the following three digits will be number 1 through 9.
- Once you have entered the correct code in the display press the FM 1 and AM simultaneously again, holding down until SAFE is displayed.
- The radio should now be working but we can’t guarantee the commercials will be any better.
Audi Sound Choice Radio
- Turn the radio on and the display should read “Code”
- If you press the Preset Station Selector Button “Code” will be replaced by “0000”
- Use the station buttons 1 through 4 to input the radio code. Press button one repeatedly until you arrive to the correct number (once would be one, twice would be two and so on.) Make sure to enter the code in the space of 1 minute or it will interrupt the process.
- After the radio code is entered correctly, press the fifth preset button.
